Markham letter is very messy and unsigned. It discusses thsat Lady Dovie sent Arthur letter and a note from Mr.? Walters. Markham is telling Arthur to handle the publication in England. He refers to Fisher? Unwim and it being a strong house. He refers to Harris as a social thinker. He discusses his work.

California poet. Raised near Vacaville, became a schoolteacher in Coloma and later in Oakland. Became famous overnight with publication of "The Man with a Hoe," his protest against brutalization of labor, in "San Francisco Examiner" (January 15, 1899). Following this success Markham moved to New York where he scored another triumph with "Lincoln and Other Poems" (1901).
